The Network Sales Test
For some affiliate network sales men and women…
Guess what, remedy for success, under promise over deliver… are you guilty of the following? If you answer yes to any of the below, you could be sued for misleading your clients.
Have you ever quoted or boasted that you have more affiliates then your competitors?
(By the nature of what affiliates do, chances are they will have signed up to the majority of networks)
Have you ever quoted that the potential client will be assigned an account manager to help look after the affiliate program?
(1x 1 account manager x eight + other clients ÷ 50 hours = 6.5 hours per week)
Have you quoted to a client that they will get x amount affiliates signing up to their affiliate program and they will generate x amount of £££ in x amount of time?
(There are no guarantees, ever heard of that old expression, you can lead a horse (not that I am suggesting for one moment that affiliates resemble Mr Ed, although they do like their fermented sugar) to water but you can’t make it drink.
How many of you have looked at the website of a potential client and based your assessment and decision to enter your affiliate network on the appearance of the website alone?
It’s not about the website appearance or even about the product per say, its about the entire business you need to look at scalability, technical, logistics, conversions, web analytics, human resources, financial stability to name but a few.
How many of you have heard your fellow colleagues say “Well it’s the client’s fault, they never put anything into their affiliate program”. Hmmmm how many of you have a) told them what affiliate marketing is? b) What they need to be doing? c) Offered any kind of training or workshops.
There are some networks of course who can answer no to all those questions, but sadly the majority will have answered yes to at least one of those questions.
Teach your clients about affiliate marketing before they sign up, give them the truth and if you truly believe you are the best network then they will be queuing up for your services.
