A4uAwards I just wonder how they’re going to top it next year!
Article by Catherine Dunn – Snr Affiliate Manager
I was fortunate enough to be one of the attendees at the A4U Awards ceremony at the Sheraton Hotel, Park Lane, on 5th June this year. And what a fabulous venue for a fabulous event it was! Not to mention very smart, with everyone dressed up looking great and wearing their best togs! It really was a fantastic event, and brilliantly well organised – right down to the last detail! The food was terrific, and the wine flowed freely! There was a brilliant band playing music before and after the event, as well as a great singer. And we loved the table entertainers (particularly Keith the Thief, who was completely brilliant!). What a terrific idea to have them – they kept us well amused on our table, while we waited for our first course to be served! And the choice of host was just inspired! Michael McIntyre was completely hilarious, and made the 16 award categories just fly by! And let’s face it; there were some very worthy winners! I was particularly pleased to see Kieron Donoghue
win an award for his excellent blog!
It really was great to see everybody dressed in their finest, having fun and enjoying themselves! And I was amazed at just how busy it was on the night – at the champagne reception, the bar was absolutely heaving! And the noise of over 400 people quaffing champagne, chatting and generally letting their hair down was unbelievably loud! Which unfortunately made chatting to anyone problematic, as it was difficult to hear anyone who wasn’t actually yelling in your ear! But as there were over 400 affiliates, advertisers and staff from agencies and networks there, I guess it wasn’t too surprising! So if I seemed to be talking gibberish to anyone – it wasn’t the champagne honest! But it was worth attending the event, just to finally put names to faces, and meet some of the people I find myself chatting to by email, phone and skype every day. It was just a shame I couldn’t get round to more people!
After the Awards Ceremony, most people drifted along to the Oxygen Lounge where Affiliate Window.com Wanted psp
were hosting an after dinner party; complete with air hostesses, a 6ft water wall, and appropriately enough – an oxygen bar! I didn’t partake of the oxygen myself – but it was obviously very popular and went down well!
There was a really great atmosphere on the night; everyone was very friendly and clearly enjoying themselves. And it was obviously a terrific success! So well done to all the winners! And a big thank you to Existem for organising such a great event, and a particular thank you to Claire at Existem for finding us such great seats on her table! It’s amazing to think this was just the 2nd year this event has been held, and only the first time it’s been organised as such a prestigious event. It really was one of the best run events I’ve ever attended and I just wonder how they’re going to top it next year!
