Job Description
This is a superb opportunity for an internet-savvy journalist or digital marketing expert to help launch and manage E-consultancy’s US editorial division.
We are seeking an individual with a passion for all things internet and a grasp of the issues that matter to e-commerce and online marketing professionals. You will preferably be based in New York, where E-consultancy will operate from.
The editor’s primary areas of focus will be on blogging, interviews, events coverage and helping our analysts to create the market-leading research that we are known for.
The successful candidate will help us grow our award-winning business as we roll out through the US. With a new website in the works and a team of bright colleagues for support, there is no better time to join E-consultancy.
Candidate Requirements
Key tasks
Blogging – researching and writing e-commerce and digital marketing-focused stories (3-5 per day), editing blog posts, blog seeding and marketing, as well as general blog maintenance.
Interviews – conducting interviews for publication on the blog (c.2-3 per week) and in the email newsletters.
Research – supporting E-consultancy’s researchers and analysts by helping to compile, edit and promote our research.
Events – covering in-house and third party events, possibly extending to the hosting of E-consultancy’s roundtables and taking on other speaking engagements (if you are keen to do so).
Community – participating in the internet community both online and offline, building further awareness of our brand, and being seen as a key voice in our sector.
Networking – developing relationships among the client side, agency side and with technology vendors. The role does not extend to pursuing any commercial deals though we encourage an entrepreneurial culture.
Skills
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Solid grasp of fundamentals of online marketing / e-commerce
A genuine enthusiasm for the internet and an interest in business
Preferably degree educated
A background in journalism and / or a background in internet marketing
Excellent writing skills, spelling and grammar
Sound numerate skills
A high level of attention to detail
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel; basic knowledge of HTML
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Highly organised, efficient, focused and proactive
Ability to work effectively on several active projects at any one time
Resourcefulness and willingness to get stuck in
Familiarity with the tools of our trade, eg Google, Twitter, Delicious, RSS, etc.
