Golfing Fashion can the two words really go together?
Would you be surprised to know that in 1954 Christian Dior started creating cashmere clothing for a Scottish company called
LyleandScott.com
Until recently Lyle and Scott clothing could only be purchased in the UK and in some stores in Europe they had little online presence. This all changed when they hired Will Dymott, Head of Ecommerce. His vision was to accommodate the demand for the golfing apparel on a global scale using the internet to facilitate the buying process. LyleandScott.com golfing fashion is now available in the USA and have launched their USA Affiliate Program via Shareasale.com.
Golfing apparel seems to have grabbed the attention of rock bands and celebrities alike and even through Lyle and Scott are synonymous with golfing tournaments their Vintage range seems to be attracting the youth market both men and women on the golf course and off.
Their new season collection was inspired by the California surf scene of the 70’s, military and the classic American preppy look, the clean and casual. This could be seen as a departure from their traditional golfing apparel aimed at the over thirty something market. Yet, golfing has no age limit, gone are the days when only dad, mom and grandpa played a round of golf. No longer does the sport have such elitist undertones.
If we look at what young fashion conscious generation is wearing today then of course why should Lyle and Scott not facilitate the demands for something that is not all about “the grunge look” that seems to dominate the high street and media stereotype of what young people want to wear.
Golfing Fashion, you don’t have to be a golfer to wear it, just ask the bands and celebs who proudly wear that yellow eagle logo.
