Affiliate Summit West #3

Here we are on Friday 9th January 2009 and in just a few short hours I shall be flying from Gatwick Airport to Las Vegas for Affiliate Summit West 2009 and I am so looking forward to it.
I have had numerous invitations to meet with delegates whilst attending the Summit and I shall finalise my schedule when I arrive. With so much to see and do at Affiliate Summit West finding time to cover as much as possible is going to be a mammoth operation.
The keynote address at Affiliate Summit West 2009 from Gary Vaynerchuk, star of Wine Library TV and Director of Operations at Wine Library in Springfield, NJ, will be streamed live on Ustream.TV.
Affiliate Summit is running January 11-13, 2009 at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. In addition to the keynote address, all other sessions will be recorded on video, too.
However, the breakout session videos will only be available to attendees with Gold and Platinum conference passes.
Sunday 11th January sees a full packaged day starting off with an event hosted by the kind people of the Christian Affiliate Marketing Association offering a non-denominational faith based Brunch (9am-11.45am). This event is absolutely a must for all affiliates involved in Fellowship opportunities and promoters of Christian affiliate programs.
The main part of the first day is a Meet Market The New Guy release taking place at the Pavilion from 12.00pm to 6.00pm and it is a great opportunity to network and chat to many of the exhibitors prior to the two main days.
On the Sunday too there are a number of Seminars taking place including a highly relevant session entitled Affiliate Marketing in 2009 (open to Gold and Platinum Members Only) and a very topical subject entitled Ethical Issues In Affiliate Marketing Sands of Iwo Jima trailer . I fully expect these Seminars to be very well attended.
So what shall I be doing on the Monday and Tuesday of Affiliate Summit West? Well I’ll be spending some time in the Bloghaus/Press Room as an accredited member of the Press catching up on some online activity and also interviewing some of the delegates. I shall also be cherry picking some of the many Sessions open during the two days. One of the truly interesting Sessions from the first day that has really caught my eye takes place in the afternoon on Monday 12th January and that is Organic SEO Site Review with Scott Polk. As I rely a lot on organic search I feel it is a must to attend this Session and learn a bit more about Search Engine Optimisation.
What makes it so difficult is that at the very same time is another important subject of profound interest to me and that is the Session on Affiliate Videos: Where Do They Work Best. Maybe I can arrange for a colleague to cover one of these Sessions for me.
Tuesday morning has a really useful Ask The Experts Session (Platinum holders only) and that I am definitely attending. There is another niche Session I want to personally cover during the morning and that’s How To Monetize Your Site With Widgets presented by Zahid Khan from Amazon.
Then after a brief luncheon courtesy of Affiliate Summit (us Press get well looked after) and time to catch up in the Bloghaus I am looking at a legal Session and one that has definitely caught my eye is an afternoon session entitled Make An Impact In Governmental Affairs hosted by Bennet Kelley of the Internet Law Centre and Wright Andrews of Butera & Andrews. With so much local legislation coming into effect in the USA such as the infamous New York Affiliate Tax I want to really see what affiliates and others can effectively do to influence legislation.
So an action packed Summit and who knows. Maybe I shall still have time to take in a live show.
