Lee, Get Vis, tell him why he should stay in affiliate marketing

Posted by admin
August 31, 2007

So Im about to head out the door, I have to get to some place, I go to power down my put, I spot something on the a4uforum, I click on the link and now, I dont care if I miss the darn train, it can wait, this can’t!I read on GetVis Blog that he wants to leave affiliate marketing.
He has so many valid points. I have left a reply needless to say, which hopefully Lee will hit the publish switch.

I came across Lee a few years back, he came to my attention as he started turning over some very nice sales for ASOS and went on to do the same for some of my clients when I started affiliateprogramadvice.com

As the years rolled on, my respect for Lee just keeps growing, he is in my mind a model affiliate. He represents everything you could ask for and what you look for in an affiliate.
He is loyal, intelligent, and innovative and has a good business head on his shoulders.
He is vocal on forums, his sense of humour…he may like to know that he has picked me up when the world seems to be closing in on me with his wit, and for the above, I thank him.

So how sad am I to see that he is leaving this industry, for every reason he gives I would like to ask you to post on his blog one reason why he should stay. I want to show Lee that he is not alone in his struggles, that there are people out there that are trying to make a difference and to just hang on in there.

Please please follow this link below and tell Lee why we think this industry is worth fighting for. Lee is symbolic for everything great and good in affiliate marketing and we cant afford to lose good people like him

Being primarily US and Asia focused, I rarely get to work with UK partners, which is a shame because there are so many great people in the UK doing some serious value ad business for merchants.

As for Lee quiting, it seems (and kick me if I’m wrong) but the main issue seems to be a lack of support ,mutual trust and understanding between Affiliate / Merchant and Network.

Getting stung over a misunderstanding sucks, having merchants put in to play rules that are not based around logic is a royal pain and being done over by a network.. well it sucks but who hasn’t had network issues several times during their affiliate career.

Ultimately this business is 100% about trust and communication. If the partners Lee has worked with to date have not met a standard that keeps peace of mind, then I’d say drop “them” not “the business” and find some partners that are willing to work with you on terms that you are happy with.

Lee, it’ll be a shame to see you go, especially when My team and I have not had chance to work with you yet 🙂

Affiliatemarketing is changing. I work for an affiliate agency – flexible but set hours, great social side and not playing with your own money. It is affiliate 2.0. Soon, sole traders will get brushed aside by professional companies.

Jess,

You’re amazing!! I came over the hill and am now back working hard again in the industry. I even got up at 7:30 to work this morning – how mad is that?!!

I was wondering where all the comments were comming from on my blog?

I wasn’t anticipating any kind of response let alone people taking time out to try to motivate me to stay in.

I’m back with a vengeance and raring to go.

I’m cleaning up my old ppc sites that I used last xmas and getting new ones ready.

This time I’m not going to leave anything to chance, I’m not going to rely on merchants to communicate with me as I’ll be on their back every five minutes checking they’ve still got stock.

It’s just time to turn those domain names into traffic and sales.

Can you drop me a line with all your merchants so I can get some stuff going.

Hopefully see you at ad:Tech or the Affiliate Summit??

Take care,

Lee

Jess just want to say people like you make this industry great. I remember working with yuo back in the day when you were at AWIN.
I was pleased to see you cheer up post for Lee, you have been supportive to me loads of the years and I am sure 100s of others would say the same

Purple: Two way street, all the way! Working together, supporting each other, this is what gives this industry strength.
Thnx purp :0)

Jessica, you are pretty amazing and sometimes just accept a compliment when it’s given.
You may not remember me, Ian Jenkins? I was having difficulties with a website that was getting fewer and fewer hits, you were at ASOS.com, you gave me some sound advice which I followed and it worked out. What you did for Lee, I know you would have done for me and for everyone.

So it is people like you that do make the difference, im with purple on that one. Now accept that compliment for you, you have done more for this industry then you may know and I know others feel the same way. Keep up the good work Jess, that was such a great thing you did for Lee!
Best – Ian

Ian: Yes of course I remember you, it took a while but we got there in the end. I did not do the Lee thing for me, it was a gut instinct, I know how hard Lee and people like him work. Lee really represents a lot of affiliates who feel the same way. I dont know John too well, but Lee… he is a great guy and Id hate for us to lose good people like him. By the way, I dont see you a lot online these days, I know you sold your company (nothing escapes me) drop me a line and lets get a date set up. Thanks so much for the nice words and you are right, Im uncomfortable with compliments for the most part because I don’t think I have done so much to warrant them, if this makes sense?, I can deal with verbal abuse a lot better, lol
Gotta run >>>>>

You have some great comments unfortunately I must be the downer.

Do not stay with affiliate marketing solely; it’s time to diversify. If you stay with a ship that is not going any where for you, you will not be satisfied for long.

Branch out and enjoy affiliate marketing as it should be enjoyed, as a possible side market you are dabbling in.

Venture into the world of Drop Shipping, Warehousing, ebay shops, etc… The net is only prosperous if you keep growing with it.

Do not stand still and do not stagnate.

Want a good program manager that will keep you hyped and provide you all the help you could possibly ever want look up eaccountable.com and chat with Matt. Tell him Sandra Roussel sent you and you need some trustworthy affiliate programs to work with.

I wish you the best,

SandraR
